FRD JAPAN Wins Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Award at the Nippon Startup Awards 2024

We are pleased to announce that FRD Japan, a company engaged in land-based aquaculture that does not depend on the sea, has won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award at the Japan Startup Awards 2024 organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The Japan Startup Awards (formerly known as the Japan Venture Awards) is a program that recognizes and honors entrepreneurs and startups that have created new, high-impact businesses that can serve as role models for the next generation. The purpose of the award is to promote the importance of taking on challenges and the social recognition of entrepreneurs in general among people who aspire to start their own businesses and society at large, thereby raising the awareness of entrepreneurship in society as a whole.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), and Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) invite applications widely and the winners are selected by a judging committee composed of experts and others.

FRD Japan is working on closed recirculating land-based aquaculture, which allows salmon, a very popular farmed fish around the world, to be produced anywhere without depending on the ocean. Land-based aquaculture is a truly difficult business, and we have had a series of difficulties in the past, but we have managed to establish the technology.
We will continue our efforts to deliver delicious salmon to the world in a way that does not burden the environment.
