Meet the Team of Innovators!

FRD Japan is looking for human resources to challenge together

Guided by our mission to supply quality trout with keeping the blue ocean, we are building a business based on our original Closed RAS technology.
By expanding our plants in Japan and to the world, we will contribute to solving the social issue of a stable supply of high-quality food protein to meet the requirement of growing population and to protecting the marine environment and the ecosystem.
Leveraging our owned technology, we will lead the RAS industry, and realize our vision in which fresh salmonids can be safely and reliably produced and directly served to the table anywhere in the world.
Will you dedicate your expertise, career, and passion to taking on this challenge?
Mission and Vision
Producing quality trout with keeping the blue ocean.
Amaze the world with our trout and technology.
Our CEO Message
Demand for salmon is growing rapidly all over the world.
FRD Japan’s mission statement is “Producing quality Salmon with keeping the blue ocean”. This phrase represents the future we aim to achieve by industrializing land-based salmon farming, so that delicious salmon can be produced anywhere, even in cities and deserts.
Currently, more than 80% of farmed salmon is produced only in two countries, Norway and Chile. It has long been considered common knowledge that “salmon cannot be farmed without cold water and fjord that can shelter them from rain and wind”.
We are confident that our closed RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System) technology could transform it to the new common sence, “Salmon can be farmed wherever there is demand”. FRD Japan’s vision, “Amaze the world with our salmon and technology”, expresses our commitment to realising this transformation.
After 8 years of operating the R&D plant which experienced more than 35 cohorts of Salmon, a new commercial farm with 3,500ton/y capacity will start operation in Chiba Prefecture, Japan in 2026. Our challenge is to make this plant be the world’s first commercially successful land-based salmon farm with closed RAS technology, and we are looking forward to working with you to make it happen.
CEO
Tez Sogo
Our History
FRD Japan was founded in 2013. We have unique denitrification system to minimize the water usage in land-based aquaculture facility, which is called closed RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System). Since 2017, We operated land-based Rainbow Trout farm using our closed RAS technology as R&D facility. In this facility, we have been farming 35 cohorts of Rainbow Trout over the past 6 years and have built up experience by overcoming many obstacles. In 2023, we raised around 20 billion (equiv. US$135 million) funds to build our first commercial plant in Chiba, Japan to produce 3,500 tons/y of Rainbow Trout which is planned to start operation in 2026.

Why Closed RAS?
Due to rapid population growth and the food culture change, the demand of Salmonids continues to grow globally. On the other hand, due to some environmental challenges in sea cage salmon farming industry, the room for supply expansion is shrinking year by year, and consequently demand-intensive market condition continues to drive Salmonids price higher.
FRD Japan, using its unique closed RAS technology, will develop a new earth-friendly method to produce Salmonids and contribute to supply high-quality Salmonids stably to the market.
Values
We define Values as “Action guidelines to realize our Mission and Vision”. We think that high level of understanding and implementation of these Values by team members leads us to achieve our goals.
Deliver professional performance.
Keep self-motivated growth to deliver professional performance.
Collaborate with mutual respect.
Always respect our diverse colleagues and collaborate.
No.1 in the industry.
Aim for No.1 quality Salmonids with the lowest production cost.
